Duck Delivery Produce Inc.’s parent company was founded in the 1940's by Mary and Leo Spada who are the grandparents of the current operator Ernie Spada, Jr. The company was the only distributor in Portland to offer pre-packaged fresh produce for the retail trade. By 1960, United Salad Co. had become a full line wholesaler to the local produce trade, selling all varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, specialty and processed produce.

In 1964, the company moved to 636 SE Tenth Avenue, in Portland, Oregon. After thirty-five years at that location United Salad Co. broke ground on a new 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art produce facility at 8448 NE 33rd Drive, in Portland, Oregon. United Salad Co., and Duck Delivery Produce, Inc. moved into our new facility in June of 1999

We have relationships of over 50 years with some of the finest premium packers in the industry. Bud Rich (potatoes & onions), T & A Packing (celery), D’Arrigo and Mann packing (broccoli and leaf items out of California), Sunkist growers (citrus) and Taylor Farms/True Leaf Farms (processors of miscellaneous items). This is just to name a few.
